SKEWED PRIORITIES: A CLOSER LOOK ON WHY THE WORLD IS DOOMED FOR FAILURE

Front tires will always lead the vehicle to the right direction under one condition that the rear tires accurately follow the direction of the front tires. Once that coordination is compromised, you are doomed for fatal accidents. No wonder, accidents that happen when the front tire is blown out are more fatal than when it is the rear tire blowing out. Now I understand the reason why my mechanic in Malawi advised me to always have good front tires.

The spiritual lesson I am learning from this analogy is that Jesus will always lead the way for each one of us if we are willing to follow His footsteps. Once we stop following Him, our relationship with Him is compromised. Resultantly, our lives are doomed for many failures because our relationship with Him is weakened and worn out. The world today has lost its good direction because those who were made to follow Jesus want to lead the way and they have pushed Jesus aside by putting their thoughts ahead of Jesus’s will.

We are living in a time when priorities are skewed. For example:

a) A young man identifies a lady to marry first then invites Jesus to change the lady that she become the right one for him. However, by the time they ask God, infatuation has already done great damage by leaving them with benumbed reasoning that cannot accept God’s will.

b) People look for a careers before asking for God’s direction and once they are established in the career, they ask God to show them the way of which they may not discern because their minds are already clouded with what their career can offer.

d) People choose friends first before asking Jesus to lead in their selection for friends. Once they are hooked with those friends, they now ask God to give them directions of which because of peer pressure it becomes difficult for them to accept God’s direction.

Many examples can be added but the major counsel from today’s sharing is that we all can be successful under one condition. The world can change for the better if we follow God’s formula for success. There’s a sure and simple formula for that: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). May you share this post with others who are also hungering for God’s direction in their life.
